All it takes to unravel a life is one little secret…
Marin had the perfect life. Married to her college sweetheart, she owns a chain of upscale hair salons, and Derek runs his own company. They’re admired in their community and are a loving family-until their world falls apart the day their son Sebastian is taken.
A year later, Marin is a shadow of herself. The FBI search has gone cold. The publicity has faded. She and her husband rarely speak. She hires a P.I. to pick up where the police left off, but instead of finding Sebastian, she learns that Derek is having an affair with a younger woman. This discovery sparks Marin back to life. She’s lost her son; she’s not about to lose her husband, too. Kenzie is an enemy with a face, which means this is a problem Marin can fix.
Thank you Minotaur Books for my copy of Little Secrets by Jennifer Hillier, in exchange for my honest review. This title releases April 21, 2020.
I normally don’t read a book this far in advance – I typically hover closer to pub date – but when the said book is Jennifer Hillier’s new thriller, exceptions need to be made!
This Queen of Thrill – aka Jennifer Hillier, is one of my longstanding all time favourite authors in this genre and there hasn’t been one book she has written that I didn’t devour and love. She nails it EVERY SINGLE TIME. To say this woman is talented is an understatement – she’s BRILLIANT and knows how to write a damn good book!
This was a powerful story with a twist you won’t see coming and was TOP SHELF in thriller fiction for me. It has already become one of my top reads for 2020. With twists and turns, edgy characters with lots to hide and secrets and lies that will have you gasping at every reveal this book is the perfect binge!
Hillier’s writing is intoxicating and in Little Secrets, she digs DEEP into the darkest of layers in marital and familial relations. She took the storyline of a missing child to a whole new level and I couldn’t get enough!
There’s something to be said about the talent of an author who takes a typical storyline and turns it into dynamite – and that’s exactly what this book was – DYNAMITE. In true Hillier fashion, she had me turning the pages faster than I could imagine and keeping me up LATE to finish! No regrets, this book was worth the late night and multiple cups of coffee the next morning at work.
This book exceeded all my expectations and I highly recommend you picking up a copy as soon as you can – it’s worth the binge!
My Rating: 5/5
