Elise Watters seems to have it all—a blissful marriage, a gorgeous Victorian home surrounded by lush gardens, and a dream job running her late mother’s herbal boutique.
But on the eve of her first wedding anniversary, Elise makes a shocking discovery that turns her life upside down and casts doubt on everything she thought she knew—about her marriage, her friends, and even herself. As she treads into dangerous territory, Elise is forced to wonder: Is her whole future at stake? Or is paranoia getting the best of her?
If she is to believe what she sees, Elise has every reason to fear for her life…
Thank you Lake Union Publishing for my advanced copy of The Poison Garden by A.J. Banner, which released October 22, 2019, in exchange for my honest review.
This was my very first A.J. Banner book and definitely will not be my last. Her writing is intoxicating and highly addictive. With short chapters and just over 200 pages, I burned through this read in no time.
The female lead protagonist is a bit unreliable, or is she?! Battling memory issues and sleep-walking tendencies, Elise can trust no one around her – not even herself. But someone is trying to turn her world upside down and everywhere she turns seems to be a dead end for answers.
I really enjoyed the “poisonous” plants and garden aspect – it was an interesting plot point and I like how the author weaved it seamlessly into her storyline and characters.
Well-paced and plot twist that will make your head spin, this was such a fun and extremely quick read. I highly recommend you pick this one up if you are looking for a quick and engaging book that will keep you on your toes.
Grab a copy and come see what all the hype is about – spoiler alert, the hype is REAL!
